Laloy-Dyad & String Quartet

As part of his 30 years of career, Didier Laloy proposes an exceptional evening with double bass player Adrien Tyberghein and a string ensemble. The concert will revisit emblematic pieces of Didier’s repertoire orchestrated for string quartet by Jean-Luc Fafchamps and Gwenael-Mario Grisi, and the presentation of his brand new project Dyad resulting from his meeting with Adrien Tyberghein.

If for a few years, Didier is considered as one of the most active musicians of his generation, here, he takes the time to breathe by entrusting the reins of his repertory to two composers of exceptions.

At the same time, with the duo Dyad, he projects himself towards the future by associating with the audacious French double bass player Adrien Tyberghien, ready once again to shake up his foundations. With compositions by Adrien and Didier, Dyad breaks stylistic boundaries by mixing traditional music, classical music, rock and electronic music. For this concert, Adrien will make string arrangements for some of Dyad’s songs.

A surprising, tender and festive journey, spiced up with the tasty anecdotes of a musician’s life.

Biography of Adrien Tyberghein

Adrien Tyberghien is a French musician and composer. He collaborates with renowed ensembles such as the Opéra National de Paris and The Ensemble Intercontemporain. He has also played with renowned artists in the classical, jazz and contemporary music field (Manu Katché, Ibrahim Maalouf, Gautier Capuçon,…). These projects led him to discover his own path and to devote himself primarily to the double bass as a soloist, chamber musician and composer. Adrien pushes the limits of his instrument in an original and unsuspectedway. France Musique describes him as a musician who “revives an obviously dusted-off classical universe. His intense personality provokes an unexpected crossing of cultures”.

  • « The feeling is that of an enhancement to the folklore forms of improvisation […] The space of improvisation between the duo, with added harmonies, rhythmic stimulations, or variations, is perhaps the most sophisticated part, showing the best of their talents. » Psychedelicfolk (UK)
  • « Dynamic, moving, haunting, footprints of great sweetness: these are real stories that are being told, over subtle dialogues, melancholic embraces and pursuits, the diatonic accordion of Didier Laloy and the cello of Kathy Adam. » – La Libre (BE)
