Born in Agadir, Morocco, in 1970, Driss El Maloumi has always embraced his North African-Arab Andalusian roots while cultivating a unique blend of classical Arabic and Western classical music. His early fascination with crafting instruments and diverse musical influences led him to find a deep connection with the oud, which he describes as a “real friend.”

Over two decades, Maloumi has collaborated with an impressive array of international musicians, including Jordi Savall, with whom he shares a profound bond. His latest project, Tafassil (Details in Arabic), is a culmination of years of dedication, combining his compositions with orchestral arrangements, which premiered at the Musikverein in Vienna in November 2023. In addition to Tafassil, Maloumi has recorded an album called Details, reflecting on life’s essential experiences and emotions. With upcoming performances scheduled across Belgium, Estonia, and the Netherlands, Driss El Maloumi continues to inspire audiences with his innovative approach to music.
